Hands On with Cats - Farnham/Fleet/Odiham area
Cat Cuddlers are required to provide RSPCA rescue cats boarding in a private cattery with some companionship and attention, whilst they are waiting to be re-homed.
Cat Carriers are required to provide transport at pre-arranged times, to and from routine veterinary appointments for RSPCA rescue cats that are boarding in a private cattery.
For either of the above opportunities please contact Geraldine on 07880 547502 or email her at rehoming@rspcahantsandsurreyborder.org.uk
Cat Fosterers
We are always looking for people willing to look after rescued cats in their own home on a temporary basis whilst we find them new homes. We cover all associated expenses.
If you have experience with cats, don’t currently have any pets and would be interested in finding out more, then please contact Geraldine on 07880 547502 or email rehoming@rspcahantsandsurreyborder.org.uk
Home Visitors
This role involves visiting people in their homes who are interested in adopting an animal either from Millbrook Animal Centre in Chobham or our Branch. Before any animal can be passed for adoption it is the job of the Home Visitor to assess the suitability of a potential adopter’s home to ensure it meets our charity’s re-homing criteria. For example, a home suitable for a dog must have an adequately sized and completely secure garden. For cats the location of the home in relation to a busy road needs to be considered as does the provision of a cat flap or suitable shelter. A rabbit has to have an appropriately sized hutch and a run in which to exercise.
It is these defined criteria that help to ensure we are providing the best future welfare needs of every animal that has come into the Society's care. As a result, we have a good re-homing success rate, ensuring that the right home and owner are found for an animal.
However, we can only provide this level of consideration for an animal’s future welfare by the dedication of a team of volunteers who are willing to help us.
Full training will be provided prior to starting as a Home Visitor.
If you are interested in finding out more on this worthwhile and interesting role, please contact us in the first instance by emailing: semmings@rspca.org.uk
